HI! I'M COACH Q

I'm ready to go to work for you because...

I was that girl! The one who was afraid to let her voice be heard for fear of others opinions. The one who sacrificed her own happiness in order to be accepted by others. The one who rarely said "no" because she always wanted to keep the peace and never ruffle any feathers. The one who silently compared herself to other girls, wishing her skin was smoother, and her hair was longer. The one who loved her creator but did not always love herself, His creation. Over the years I have learned to embrace my own uniqueness (flaws and all) and help hundreds of other young ladies do the same. From the age of 15 I began serving in church as a Student Leader and eventually a Youth Leader. Since then, I went on the attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, a Masters in Public Health, specializing in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and many other certifications including Teen Girl Life Coaching. I have worked as an HIV and AIDS Counselor and a School Guidance Counselor and have witnessed firsthand the many challenges that young ladies face each and everyday; both internally and externally. I am passionate about helping girls recognize their God-given value and self worth so that they can prevent many of the unnecessary pitfalls that life will often send their way.

In addition to my passion for coaching and mentorship, I am a proud wife and a mother of two amazing children, one of whom is also a little princess. I love singing and songwriting, both of which have helped me overcome some of the toughest days of my life.

I would love nothing more than to work with your daughter to help her tear down walls, break through ceilings and soar to reach her highest potential. I will be sure to let her know that she is favored, approved and chosen by God!

All My Love,

Coach Q

MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I am Quialashon Sands, a Certified Teen Wisdom Inc. Coach  http://teenwisdom.com/ , and a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Public Health. My concentration was in the area of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. My experience in the counseling and healthcare sectors are diverse and expansive due to various internships, employment and volunteer opportunities. As a former Guidance Counselor and Public Health professional, I am confident that I can add value to your daughter's life by utilizing evidence-based strategies and creative approaches to inspire healthy behaviors and attitudes. My ultimate goal is to produce positive, transformative outcomes in the life of your child.

My passion for becoming an Adolescent Mentor and Coach for girls has been solidified by the numerous encounters that I have had, particularly with young ladies in a variety of settings. My coaching style is greatly attributed to the experience I have gained. For example, while working in a tertiary health care facility as a Physical Therapy volunteer, I quickly realized that it is not enough for these individuals to go through the rehabilitation process. They should also be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent the reoccurrence of their initial health issue(s). Attaining an Undergraduate degree in Psychology has helped me gain an even greater understanding of how one’s self- efficacy and way of thinking can tremendously impact their overall wellbeing. Through my Public Health studies and experiences, I have acquired numerous skill-sets including: conducting needs/formative assessments, program implementation, management and evaluation. In 2015, I served in the capacity of Surveillance Program Manager for a major research study, which targeted key populations affected by HIV in The Bahamas.

Having worked as a Certified HIV/AIDS Counselor, I have acquired a heightened appreciation for the importance of ethical dealings, confidentiality and sensitivity when working with clients. Therefore, I pride myself on being highly confidential and non-judgemental in my approach toward the young ladies that I coach and mentor. As a former Guidance Counselor, I interacted with the student population, administration, staff and parents on a daily basis. I spent a lot of time conducting classroom observations, inspirational presentations, one on one counseling, group counseling, teaching Guidance classes, and much more.

I believe that one of my strongest assets is my ability to interact with people on a level that meets them where they are, regardless of age, ethnicity, educational or socioeconomic status and so forth.

Having the opportunity to work with varied populations has also been both humbling and rewarding. For instance, I have served as a youth leader in church for many years. Some of my duties included conducting mentoring sessions with the youth, leading praise and worship, leading bible study, making presentations, planning special events and traveling on mission trips both nationally and abroad.
